| The First Appointment
Prior to your first appointment, Dr. Seetha will speak with you briefly over the phone to discuss the main reasons for your decision to seek therapy services. During this conversation, she will be able to tell you if she is the right person to assist you with your concern. This conversation also gives you the opportunity to ask Dr. Seetha any questions you may have about her approach to therapy. Fees and possible times for an appointment will also be discussed at this time. If it is determined that it is best for you to see another therapist or type of professional for your concern, she will refer you to an appropriate person or establishment where you can receive the assistance you need.
During the first appointment that is usually between 90 - 120 minutes, the reason(s) for your visit would be discussed in further detail. What you hope and want to achieve through therapy will also be discussed. At the end of the first session, Dr. Seetha will be able to offer her initial impressions about what may be going on, what approach to therapy is likely to be beneficial to you or your family and how best to reach your goals. Questions you may have about Dr. Seetha's impressions may be addressed at this time too. If, either during or after the meeting, you feel that you would prefer to see someone else or explore other forms of assistance, Dr. Seetha would be happy to provide you with an appropriate referral. Follow-up appointments for individuals are typically 50 minutes and for couples and families 90 minutes.
